Compassionate Friends

The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a self-help support organisation for bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents. It offers friendship and understanding to families who are grieving the death of a child of any age, from any cause.

Bob Wyborn, who lost his son to adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) disease made famous by the movie Lorenzo’s Oil, is one of the driving forces behind TCF and approached the Redcliffe Hospital Foundation seeking funding. Bob wants to take his organisation’s deepest sufferers on a retreat to Maleny on the Sunshine Coast hinterland for intensive counselling.

The Foundation has agreed to fund this venture on an ongoing basis and also have agreed to set up a partnership where some of the TCF volunteers can become volunteers for our Foundation.
