FEDERAL Health Minister Nicola Roxon visited the Redcliffe GP Super Clinic today to see work back on track after more than six weeks of delays.
Ms Roxon toured the site at Anzac Ave with Federal Member for Petrie Yvette D'Ath and thanked builders for their patience during the construction halt.
"Of course we would have liked the project to continue without this setback but we are now hopeful the main part will be completed by the end of the year," Ms Roxon said.
Ms Roxon also commended the Redcliffe Hospital Foundation for their commitment to the project. "The foundation can be rightly proud of getting the project to this stage," she said.
The Federal Government provided $3.2 million to enable the clinic to be completed after Queensland Health Minister Geoff Wilson would not sign off on approval for the foundation to access a loan.
Mr Wilson said the foundation's business plan did not "stack up", but Ms Roxon said the Federal Government had a different view.
"The Commonwealth Government has a different view from the State Government on the business model, but nevertheless the project is back up and running," she said.
"There will be the additional benefit to the foundation that they will not have to service a loan, leaving them to continue funding other important projects for the community."
Ms D'Ath said it was important for Ms Roxon to visit the site today to reassure the community the project would be completed.
